WHAT TO EXPECT
HOYA CV. SUNRISE fully rooted in LECA with active grow point.
You'll get a healthy Hoya Cv. Sunrise that meets our rigorous quality standards in your choice of a 2" or 4in nursery pot. No two plants are alike, and yours will have its own unique shape, size and personality; expect this natural variation from the photos.
Our plants include detailed care instructions as well as our Houseplant Best Practices guide, with information on how to repot, seasonal care and more!
Hoya ‘Sunrise’ is an elegant, highly collectible cross between Hoya lacunosa ssp. pallidiflora and Hoya Obscura, hybridized by Michael Miyashiro in 1992. The leaves are dark green with visible veins and red flecks.
Hoya ‘Sunrise’ is a climbing cultivar with medium-sized leaves which react significantly to sun-stressing. Pair your Hoya with our brass plant supports to achieve optimal growth. In a shaded environment, the light green waxy leaves may not appear to be anything special, however, when exposed to the sun, or when new growth emerges, the leaves produce a rich purple shade, revealing the magnificent veins that dissect the foliage.
Hoya ‘Sunrise’ is very easy to care for as long as you keep it in a bright spot and are careful with water. Like many other types of Hoya’s, this species is epiphytic in its natural habitat, which means it’s actually an air plant with crinkly succulent leaves. Hoyas can be propagated by cuttings in a sphagnum moss medium, with high humidity, and some patience.
Many people swear that all hoyas are the easiest to care for houseplants! They make for excellent houseplants as they can withstand neglect.
PLANT CARE
• Light: Bright, indirect light
• Water: Drought tolerant. Water when the top 1-2” of soil feels dry
• Considerations: Use a well-draining soil, and select a planter with drainage. Pet friendly!
